So, this is where I am now. It is Brockdale Park on Lake Lavon in Collin County, Texas. (Near Dallas/Plano)

Update

Well, it's been a while. I am again going to try and get this going. I have been full timing now for about 6 months solid, more if you count some time when I was in the air a lot flying to Sacramento and Seattle. Anyway, I have been spending a good bit of time in the Lake Lavon area, much at the Clear Lake COE campground. I have made two trips "away". One to Houston/League City in May to see granddaughter Lola and one to Eisenhower State Park on Lake Texhoma.

The trip to Houston was a three day afair getting there. Not because it had to be, but because I turned it into three days. One day was in the Davy Crockett NF. Getting there though I managed to blow the inside dually tire. I got to replace all four. But the place I found was close and had them in stock and I got a pretty good price. Here is a pic of the current rig when I parked in the forest overnight.

Then I went to Huntsville State Park. A very plesant park, but no pictures that make sense to post. Then I went to Brazos Bend State park. A good one. Quiet. It would probably be great in the winter. Here is a picture of a deer that was there. A bunch of postings and warnings about alligators too.

And here is a picture of Lake Lavon

So, let's leave it at that for the moment. Hopefully I will stay on top of this now.

Wandering Mike's Blog - The start.

So we will do the obligatory "who I am" bit later. For the moment, I am going to try and post some pictures for an easy way to send stuff out. Let's try the new (to me) Miata as a starting point. I guess you click on the picture to see a big image, but I think it is very big.

Ok, so it is a 2005 model. 14,300 miles or so. Tan Leather interior. Tan top. Bose stereo stuff. CD of course. Got it for a couple thousand under book price, but got only a thousand for the Green Ford van. But the van was on its last legs and needed a bit of work. I guess the savings in not getting a few things fixed has to be taken into account at trade in time. I like it so far. Not the oomph of the Honda S2K, but enough for an old geezer. I have a great top down drive to the office from when I am staying in the parks to the east of Allen, TX.

Which gets me to the next bit about why this is called Wandering Mike's Blog. The pic below is my residence. Yep, living full time in an RV. A small one at that. It is a 22 foot Coachmen Class C. Rear Kitchen. I have been doing this since November 06 (but a bit of the time until January was still wandering around staying in hotels in CA and WA as well as TX. One of the key reasons for the trade of the van was to be able to have a "toad" that I could pull behind this RV. Getting that equipment rigged up is the next step. Hopefully by the end of April so we can tool down to League City for Lola's birthday.

So that's it for now. We will try and keep this up, but we will see. Lord knows how many web sites I have started over the years.
